Now I want to watch it. It looks horrifying.

He also forgot to mention the Last Jedi.

There’s no universe where the last 3 movies were worse than the prequels.

I have seen it, and it is every bit as terrifying as they say it is.

Maybe but he wasn’t in those. I
n my opinion
The R
evenge of the Sith was better than Last Jedi
. The whole chase scenario in the Last Jedi didn’t make any sense nor did the ending. Rogue One is my favorite of all the movies with Empire Strikes back being a close second.

Depends on your definition of worse. Better acted? Certainly. Better story? Not a chance.

The problem with 7-9 is that they are just a repackaging of 4-6. Very few, if any, original ideas. I agree that ROTS is the best of the rest, and that Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie since Star Wars. And Solo also sucked.

You think it’s so legendarily bad that you’ll torrent it and sit through it just for the kitschy nerd cred. I, too, once thought as you did.

I was in the Solo sucked team for a while but have recently had a change of heart. The story was a little wacky but I liked the whole dynamic between Han,
Beckett, and Qi’ra but
Lando stole the show. H
aving Darth Maul in the movie was great especially when you combine his story in the Clone Wars/Rebels animated series.

There’s a reason no other piece of Star Wars media ever acknowledged it’s existence until the last couple years.

I hated Rogue One.
They gave us a cast full of interesting characters with complex story lines, and then killed them all off. Just because, “Hey, these characters didn’t exist in the original movies, and the entire damn galaxy is too small for them to exist outside of those movies.”
Why is the “Noble death” the only story telling method that a character wouldn’t return? One was a spy for crying out loud, he could easily disappear on a mission for years .
And don’t get me started on the laziness of writing the “Ultimate weapons ” in the ROS .

I still want to know how they put Maul back together again.

None of that character stuff bothered me. It felt fresh, and it felt right. Hard to explain, I guess. And I loved the ending, with Darth Vader being the homicidal badass we all know he is.

Magic....
I think. I know the witches had something to do with it along with his ingenuity
. If you watch the Clone Wars animated series, it explains most of it.

You are not wrong but we are talking about the
Star Wars universe so some of these shenanigans are to be expected.

You have to be careful with the Clone Wars series though! It contains Jar-Jar Binks!

The ending was great, but Star Wars is a character driven story. Killing off those characters just unceremoniously ends one of the better story lines in the Star Wars universe.

I know that characters come and go, but killing off every “previously unseen” character just because they’re not shown in the movies after it in the timeline, just smacks of lazy writing. Also, giving 8 separate characters a “noble death” makes each individual death less impactful. Also, there are no sympathetic characters left to make us feel the loss.
It’s just, there are better ways to tell the story and to explain the lack of those characters in the “later movies”

Not really. They killed them off because “Many spies died to give us these plans.” You knew going into the movie nobody would survive. If you expected otherwise then I don’t know what to tell you.

Not one person left alive to tell the grim tale? Not one person left alive to inspire the rebels into action? Not one person left alive to feel the weight of the sacrifice?
C’mon, there were 6 “good guys” going in to that final battle/info extraction. Only one of those was a spy dedicated to the rebel cause (Maybe 2 if you count K- 2SO) . Plus, there was already the death of a spy earlier in the movie, and the death of all the people in Vader’s hallway.
We had plenty of death to validate that statement. But, we didn’t have anyone left to feel the weight of all those deaths, and that many “noble deaths” in a row just devaluates each individual death.
I just had the feeling early in the movie of “I have never seen these characters before, so they’re probably all going to die”. I was so pissed off that I was right.
